Disk Scheduling for Multimedia Data

Abstract
Mulitimedia applications requires a guaranteed transfer rate of data. Therefore, in multimedia system, disk requests of continuous media with constant data rate have to be real-time serviced. In this paper, we look at the problem of disk scheduling algorithm in multimedia system, and propose a new scheduling algorithm, that may result in higher seek optimization than SCAN-EDF and reduce required buffer- space and startup time, and propose new observation basEd admission control strategy. Finally, We compare proposed algorithm with SCAN-EDF, show that proposed algorithm support more streams.
